Galveston Island

Our annual family trip to Florida got cancelled 2 1/2 weeks before we were going to leave- along with our deposit for the beach house. :/ So this mama had to get creative! What better could I think of than to go see some of our favorite people! So we took a road trip to the great state of Texas. Our first quick stop was to pick up Brianne & Abigail. They hopped in and we headed down to Beth's in Beaumont, Tx. Beth is the most interesting, eclectic, and vibrant person I know- and I'm serious! The best Cousin a girl could have. Everytime I'm around her I feel more creative & have more zeal for life! We stayed at her house the first night then took off for Chrystal Beach the next morning. The kids loved it! They played in the waves all day. That evening we stayed in a little camper on the bay. It was small & quaint & the perfect setting for lots of laughs and precious memories. - and unfortunately swamped with Mosquitos, but that's ok. ;) After the kids went to sleep the adults slathered ourselves with bug repellant and sat out by the bay. It was so nice. The next morning we woke up & headed to Galveston Island. We rode the ferry & the kiddos thought that was so neat. In Galveston we went downtown & did some window shopping. They had the cutest pirate festival going on & the boys joined in the sword fighting school. That of course was adorable! That afternoon we enjoyed the beach & the kids were getting extra brave. They had to be frequently reminded not to wonder out too far! That night we went to "the Original Mexican Restaurant" for dinner, in our wet suits and cover ups. It was FANTASTIC!!!! Bryce ate his weight in chips & queso. After eating we drove back to Beth's house and woke up the next morning to drive back to east Texas. It was a busy, dirty, scattered, full of fun trip!! Loved every second of it!
